Una Glennon’s new website

Una Glennon book
Last year, Una invited me to work on the design for her book, Ciara’s Gift, which describes her journey through grief after the loss of her beloved daughter. Soft watercolours inspired by nature illustrate the quotes and text – all with a subtle, contemplative feel. This was a very special assignment.

We have just launched Una’s supporting website. The design integrates the book illustrations in a spare, light-filled layout to best highlight her beautiful text. The guys at OM4 built the site. Visit it here.

Castelli Estate Wines

Castelli Estate Wines website

I worked with Glenn and the guys at OM4 to redesign & relaunch the website for Castelli Estate, a high-achieving wine producer from the Great Southern Region of Western Australia.

The client already had their brand established, and some great photography (by Francis Andrijich) on-hand, providing some pretty neat raw materials… all ready for a web-facelift to better reflect their brand qualities.

Visit the site here. And P.S. see Events: The Waifs are playing at the beautiful estate high up on Mt. Shadforth, on the March long weekend.

Thunderbirds – a Retro Metal site

Working with possibly the best client ever (no changes, free rein, and a wealth of images), I’ve just completed this website dedicated to Thunderbirds in general, and Perth Thunderbirds in particular.

The site went from concept to live in less than a week. It’s built on the OM4 platform, naturally, with more features than a ’64, and is gonna run a lot faster too. The site can be updated easily by the mechanically-savvy but technically-naive Paul, it runs the metal-heavy photo galleries like a charm, and you can subscribe free! And who doesn’t want to know when the next TBird Pancake Run is going to be held?

Jump into some retro styling, and maybe learn a bit about distinguishing the chrome detailing of the ’56 from the ’57. See it here.

OM4 – What goes round…

OM4 cards
Glenn Nicholas at OM4 has created a web platform that caters to just about every small business need. And you don’t have to be a tech geek to run it yourself (I’m testament to that!).

We’ve had our heads together for a little while to facelift the corporate identity.. the website will be madeover next. The guys have just moved into new premises and even chose tiles to match the OM4 orange.

This simple, vibrant card was printed one metallic colour, 2 sides, with an emboss.

Printing Experiments

Every so often there’s a chance to slide the chair away from the computer and slop around some printing ink. Here’s a sample of some monoprint experiments.

Your Dream Business

Kiosk apron
There’s a mini-boom in new business launches, as retrenched execs take the leap to start their own businesses.

I read about one such entrepreneurial lady who developed a successful range of pre-packaged fresh baby meals. She had been toying with the idea for some time, but being retrenched while on maternity leave provided the impetus.

If you are in a similar situation (but you don’t have to be pregnant!), consider investing in some professional design to get your brand right first. I’ve worked with some great clients who are just starting out, who were surprised that graphic design services could be so affordable. Read some of their comments here. View some identity samples here.

Drop me a line if you are interested in investing in design to bring benefits to your new enterprise. Maybe we can get together for a chat over a coffee.

Sebastiano’s Outdoor Kitchens

seb-layout

I love BBQs (I’m a recovering vegetarian!), chilled sauv blanc, summer, G&Ts… and clients that are a delight to deal with! The recently-completed brand for Sebastiano’s incorporates a spatula/sun metaphor, 2-colour metallic printing, finished with a detailed emboss.

Seb & Tash offer a comprehensive, customised outdoor kitchen design and construction service, and are passionate about every project. If you think grilling stuff on summer evenings, cold beers in the fridge and pizza fresh from the wood-fired oven could be your outdoor utopia, check out their website.

Moombaki on the Web!

Moombaki Wines - relaxing in the grass

Everyone who knows me has been plied with Moombaki Wines at some time! And that’s because Moombaki is run by my fabulous sister Melissa and bro-in-law David – and they make award-winning, amazing wine.

It’s been a while marinating, but the website is now live. You can purchase online now – and who doesn’t need more alcohol these days? Plus, the esteemed James Halliday rates them a 5-star vineyard!

Thanks to Glenn at OM4 for building, advising (patient guy!) and hosting.
