John Rice is the perfect client & a brilliant wedding photographer: talented, entertaining & personable, with a singular eye for artistic photography.

The brief for this job was to present John’s special take on wedding photography: capturing the love between the bride & groom and recording that connection in a photo-journalistic, natural way.

Developing a brand came so easily: just connect the dots between John’s surname, the tradition of throwing rice at weddings, and the suggestion of a camera lens – we had the basis of a brand that conveys the right message without competing with the photographic images. The business cards are letterpress printed, and the lens shape serves as a diecut / viewing window suggesting John’s visual take on the world.

John is opening a second studio in Margaret River, so will be the perfect choice for your Down South wedding if you too feel the magic in his light-painted images.

We printed these one PMS – each girl’s card alternates the grey & white scheme, for a personalised look.

note: I do believe the girls use equipment a little more updated than my Brownie 127 camera.

Just received Rob’s first info-tainment instalment this morning – funny to see my design sitting in the Inbox – and looking forward to reading more of Rob & his gang’s shootings.

I’m free-wheeling around my office on a fabulous new Aeron chair! A long-overdue replacement for the tired foam-cushioned office chair from last century. While still working out the levers & adjustments, I’m having fun imitating an exec leaning back in the power position. I love the Forward Tilt and my sacral dysfunction loves the posture-fitting Aeron form.

I wish my work days could be spent lounging around like Trixie, but long hours at the computer require ergonomic considerations.

My friend Claudia showed me this neat iPad app, Minimal Folio. Present your portfolio in swipe-friendly columns for a non-linear iPad presentation.

It handles images & PDFs, integrates with Dropbox, works very intuitively. Bargain @ $2.99.

We have just launched Una’s supporting website. The design integrates the book illustrations in a spare, light-filled layout to best highlight her beautiful text. The guys at OM4 built the site. Visit it here.

The client already had their brand established, and some great photography (by Francis Andrijich) on-hand, providing some pretty neat raw materials… all ready for a web-facelift to better reflect their brand qualities.

The site went from concept to live in less than a week. It’s built on the OM4 platform, naturally, with more features than a ’64, and is gonna run a lot faster too.
