Fans of Moombaki

December 2nd, 2009 by Tracy

Now that December has dawned, bringing with it the onset of Christmas Panic Syndrome, maybe it’s a good time to get one thing sorted. My sweet sister is offering some wonderful bonuses at Moombaki for mailing list customers, and as usual is helping someone else in the process – Oxfam Save Water/Save Lives project.

I suggest you take the initiative and Save Water/Drink Wine over Christmas! Moombaki is endorsed by the most venerated critics, including James Halliday, Ray Jordan and Trixie, as you can see.

Go get some now!

Trixie the tabby-torti cat

December 1st, 2009 by Tracy

Our little cat Trixie has beautiful markings – and I was struck by how her colours are replicated in our feature stone fireplace. But I only had a split second to try and shoot it – she disdainfully stalked off.

No pictures please!

Ahh! Spring is in the air. And what a special treat to see Mr & Mrs Duck escort their 10 little ones across our front lawn yesterday. Hoping all 10 come back..

Barbie’s 50th

The Art Gallery of WA has a special celebration of Barbie’s 50th birthday, with a selection of Neil Taylor’s vintage Barbie collection on display.

I love the 59-66 couture era of Barbie’s wardrobe, and Neil has some pristine examples of original outfits, all with great accessories… and several Ken friends to choose from!

But I went home with Hawaiian Shirt, knee-bend Ken (aka Paul).

Everyone’s favourite photo op: the Sydney Opera House.
The man in the top photo is laying brand-spanking-new Purple carpet.
The man in the bottom photo is Paul – not yodelling, but taking a photo.

Sydney Trip

Just returned from our R+R break in Sydney: 5 days and about 500 kms walking! One day we hiked from our hotel in the CBD to Woollahra and back – in teeming rain! We also covered Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Newtown (don’t ask) and even Parramatta Rd one day (Deus ex Machina the highlight there). Not to mention the Art Gallery of NSW, Museum of Sydney, cocktails at the CafĂ© Sydney on top of Customs House, an Opera House tour and a ferry trip to Manly. See that cool place Nookie? It must be the smallest coffee joint in the world – the barista works in a room the size of a cupboard.

When it wasn’t raining, I would grab a few snaps along the way – great architectural details, cool type and bits of urban art everywhere. We were delighted to discover Calder’s stabile sculpture in front of Seidler’s Australia Square building (see above).

Now it’s back to the reality of not having room service at our disposal! And where’s my turndown service and pillow mint?

Bunker Bay

Last week we ran away to Bunker Bay for a night. We were treated to a spectacular sunrise over the cape on Friday morning. And treated ourselves to a couple of nice bots of Sauv Blanc too!
